Lebanon's parliament Speaker Nabih Berri issued a statement on Saturday slamming "Israeli" Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s "hateful speech" at the United Nations.

Beirut - Taqrib News Agency (TNA) - "We reassure Netanyahu that the Lebanon that beat "Israeli" aggression in the South will also be a resistant at the UN Security Council," Berri said in a reference to Lebanon’s role as rotating head of the 15-member council.

"The state that presides over the Security Council is not Hezbollah, President Michel Sleiman or Prime Minister Najib Mikati…but it is Lebanon, which was slaughtered by the "Israelis" in 1996," the speaker added.

He also said that Netanyahu has a "historical record filled with crimes and murders."

"It’s a matter of time that the world realizes that the organization might have the time to avenge its dignity and understand that "Israel" can’t stay above the law and above accountability, " Berri said.
