Lebanese Foreign Affairs Minister, Adnan Mansour, met Saturday at the sidelines of his partaking in the UN general assembly in New York, with his Syrian counterpart, Walid El-Moallem. Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister, Faisal El-Mokdad, and Syria's permanent representative at the UN where present during the encounter.
Talks touched on the situation in the region, whereby both sides stressed on the importance of international rallying for the sake of voting for Palestine's membership in the UN Council.
At the internal Syrian level, El-Moallem expressed his optimism about the situation in general, which he considered are witnessing notable improvement. He also shed light on the reform steps that the Syrian leadership intends to take in the upcoming months.
In turn, Mansour voiced confidence that the Syrian leadership, through its response to reform and the demands of the people, shall overcome its crisis. He considered it necessary that friends of Syria stand by its leadership for the sake of aiding it in implementing said reform steps.
