IRGC: Short-Range Projectile with Warhead Used in Haniyeh’s Assassination

 Releasing new details regarding the July 31 assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh, the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Saturday that Haniya was assassinated by a short-range projectile fired at his accommodation place in Tehran.


The IRGC emphasized in the statement that their investigations confirmed the assassination was orchestrated by the Israeli regime. The projectile, launched from outside the secured area, caused significant destruction upon impact, leading to the martyrdom of Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards.

The statement read: "Following the terrorist act by the criminal Zionist regime that led to the martyrdom of the esteemed Dr. Ismail Haniyeh, the brave head of the political bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), and his companion, we inform the people of Iran of the following:
1. This act was planned and executed by the Zionist regime with the support of the criminal US government.
2. Based on our investigations, the terrorist operation involved the firing of a short-range projectile with a warhead weighing about seven kilograms, accompanied by a severe explosion, from outside the guest residence area.
In conclusion, the statement underscored that the blood of "Martyr Ismail Haniyeh" will not go unavenged. It vowed that the adventurous and terrorist Zionist regime will receive a decisive and severe punishment at the appropriate time and place.
Ismail Haniyeh, a leading figure in Hamas, was martyred in his residence in Tehran early on Wednesday. As the investigation continues, this incident has heightened tensions in the already volatile region. Supporters of the Palestinian resistance movement and its allies await further details and the anticipated response to this provocative act.
