The holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS) in Iran’s northeastern city of Mashhad has hosted an interfaith conference on Gaza on Saturday.
Scholars from Islamic and non-Islamic denominations from across Iran attended the conference entitled “Gaza, Symbol of Oppression and Husseini Determination” which was co-organized by the holy shrine of the eighth Shia Imam, Khorasan Razavi Seminary and the Bureau of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Taqrib News Agency (TNA) quoted Astan Quds as reporting.
Mehraban Pouladi, a member of the World Zoroastrian Organization condemned those who behave counter to universal principles referring to the Israeli genocidal war against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza.
Arash Babayee, a Jewish theology professor, also stressed rejection of oppression by all divine faiths and said there is no justification for discrimination.
“The term ‘peace’ connotes greetings and wellbeing, which recurs over 100 times in the Old Testament, bearing witness to the significance of peace in Judaism”, continued Babayee.
Also, a member of the Assembly of Experts recounted the history of Zionists’ hostility against Islam, saying, “We firmly believe that the pure blood of Palestinians will eventually result in their victory”.
A prominent Iranian Sunni scholar, Molavi Nazir Ahmad Salami said,” Hamas resistance group in Gaza is a kind of mentality, which will last even if its members are martyred.”
Hujjat-ul-Islam Zamani, a prominent Iranian seminary professor, detailed his views on the Qur’anic view on resistance and said, “The resistance of Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip is an extension of Imam Ashura movement since it was not a historic incident, and was rather a fight between the right and the wrong”.
The interfaith conference on “Gaza, Symbol of Oppression and Husseini Determination” was held in Sheikh Tabarsi Hall under the auspices of the Scientific and Cultural Organization.
