The representative of the Leader in Iran’s West Azarbaijan province has hailed the third Shia Imam as a potential axis to boost unity among members of the Islamic nation.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Sayyed Mahdi Qureishi, speaking at the 2nd webinar held by World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought on Imam Hussein (AS) said that sharing an affection for the third Shia Imam can unite the Muslims, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He hailed Imam Hussein (AS) as the only person who rose against a tyrant ruler and even sacrificed his life and family members for revival of Islam.
The online meeting, entitled “Imam Hussein (AS), Reviver of Islam” was held by World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought on Monday, ahead of the Arba’een procession which marks the martyrdom of the third Shia Imam and 72 of his companions in the Battle of Karbala (680 AD).
Also in this webinar, the prominent Sunni scholar from Saqqez city in the western Iranian province of Kurdistan, stressed the affection and loyalty of the Sunni community for the third Shia Imam and lauded Imam Hussein (AS) for his uprising to bring a reform in the Islamic nation and revive the original Islam which had been introduced by Prophet of Islam (PBUH).
Mamusta Mahmoud Ibn Khayyat said the uprising by Imam Hussein (AS) set an example for all schools of thought across the globe.
Molavi Esmail Azin, the Friday prayer leader of Konarak, in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchistan, attending this online meeting of Shia and Sunni scholars, praised Imam Hussein (AS) for doing the perfect form of jihad (struggle) and said,” Imam Hussein (AS) did not stand silent in front of the so-called Muslim rulers who took no action regarding oppression against Muslims.”
He highlighted Ashura uprising as a special landmark in history of Islam and added,” We live in an era of oppression by enemies of Islam; therefore, we should make the best of philosophy of Ashura and remain a follower of Imam Hussein (AS).”
The Friday prayer leader of Bandar-e Pol, in his remarks at the 2nd webinar on “Imam Hussein (AS), Reviver of Islam” said,” Ashura, teaches us not to remain silent in front of disbelief, tyranny and oppression.”
Sheikh Hussein Bazmandegan, stressed that Muslims should learn from Imam Hussein (AS) and follow the path of the third Shia Imam in rising up whenever they find an oppressor.”
A number of Shia and Sunni clerics and university lecturers attended the first edition of the webinar on “Imam Hussein (AS), Reviver of Islam” which was held earlier in August.
The elite participants discussed the different aspects of the lifestyle, school of thought and uprising by Imam Hussein (AS).
