Hamas condemns Israel’s use of displacement as weapon for collective punishment of Gazans
A member of the political bureau of Hamas, Ezzat A-Resheq, has denounced the Israeli regime for forcible displacement of the Palestinians in Gaza to the so-called “safe zones” as another way to intensify collective punishment of the civilians in the besieged strip.
Al-Resheq stressed that the Israeli occupation army uses displacement as a weapon against defenseless civilians, in an attempt to exacerbate their humanitarian ordeal.
The Hamas official said that forcing thousands of civilians to repetitive displacement has led to their accumulation under harsh conditions threatening their lives and exacerbating the humanitarian crisis, in a flagrant violation of international humanitarian laws and conventions.
He held the US administration responsible for the Israeli heinous crimes and the ongoing aggression.
He called on the international community and human rights organizations to take immediate action and to shoulder their legal and humanitarian obligations “to stop the ongoing genocide against our people.”
Israel has issued several evacuation orders addressing the people, many of whom displaced multiple times, in different neighborhoods across Gaza to leave their homes for the regions it claims to be safe. Dozens of civilians have lost their lives in the onslaughts by the Israeli occupation forces targeting areas the regime claimed to be safe.
More than 1.5 million Palestinians remain internally displaced as the Israeli regime has blocked all crossings to the besieged Gaza.
