A repeated call by an Israeli minister to build a synagogue at the holy al-Aqsa Mosque has drawn much condemnation from the officials across the world.

The United Nations has denounced as “highly counterproductive” the Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir's recent remarks on building a synagogue inside the Al-Aqsa Mosque site in the occupied East al-Quds.
 
UN spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, told reporters in a news conference that there is a status quo agreed to the parties for the holy sites in al-Quds that must be respected by all.
 
He urged adherence to this agreement, in actions as well as public statements, to avoid escalating tensions further.
 
The Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas, said the minister’s comments were “dangerous” and called on Arab and Islamic countries “to take responsibility for protecting the holy sites”.
 
The Palestinian movement warned that the proposal reveals efforts reveal the regime’s intentions for Judaization of the Islamic holy site and tightening control over it.
 
Egypt’s Foreign Ministry called on Israel to comply with its obligations as an occupying power and stop provocative statements aimed at escalating tensions.
 
“These statements obstruct efforts to reach a truce and a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and pose a serious threat to the future of the final settlement of the Palestinian issue”, the statement by top Egyptian official said.
 
Jordanian Foreign Ministry vowed, in a statement issued on Monday, that the country will take all necessary measures to take measures in the international courts against the attacks on the holy site.
 
The provocative proposal by the extremist Israeli minister of security comes less than two weeks after a controversial visit by him to the holy al-Aqsa Mosque leading crowds of ultra-orthodox Jews who performed prayer at the holy mosque.
 
Groups of extremist Jews have repeatedly stormed al-Aqsa Mosque under police protection in defiance of a decades-long international agreement that bans non-Muslims to perform any religious ritual or prayer in the Islamic holy site.
