TNA - Beirut - Lebanese President Michel Sleiman said 'Israel's approval to build 1100 new homes in Gilo is a blow to Mideast peace-aimed efforts and to the fresh Quartet statement.
He said this move was indeed part of the Judaization rampant plan.
Earlier this week, "Israel" approved the construction of 1100 residential units in the Jewish settlement of Gilo in the outskirts of Jerusalem, a step which was feared to put at risk international efforts to convince Israel and Palestine to return to negotiations. It is to Note that UN Quartet had called in a statement for a halt to unilateral actions by both sides, whose talks have been in limbo since September 2010 with the expiration of a partial "Israeli" moratorium on settlement building in the West Bank.
This issue topped talks between Sleiman and outgoing UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Michael Williams, in Baabda Palace Thursday.
Both men also discussed the situation in the South, the work of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), and its coordination with the Lebanese army to implement resolution 1701.
Sleiman also decorated the UN official with the national cedar medal, upon the end of his mission to Lebanon.
