It is expected that the UN which is an entity to defend the rights of all nations can take constructive steps on the ongoing war in Gaza, Sayed Hussain Hadi, an Afghan expert says.
Hadi has made the remarks at the 12th webinar of the 38th International Islamic Unity Conference scheduled to be held on September 14-21, slamming Western countries' double standards on critical issues such as ongoing wars in the world.
The policies of superpowers, particularly the US, have impeded the UN to pursue its missions throughout the world, he added.
Why do we witness double standards in the approach of the UN as the global entity has been set up to help the countries refrain from waging wars? he asked.
It is expected that the UN which is an entity to defend the rights of all nations can take constructive steps on the ongoing war in Gaza, he noted.
The war in the Gaza Strip has inflicted negative impacts on human rights, he stated.
We can term a war as just when it wages against warmongering and aggression, he pointed out.
Just wars should lead to lasting peace, he further noted.
He went on to say that civilians are respected during just wars.
