The Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, Hamid Shahriari, says that “with our regional cooperation, we can prevent the war crimes committed in Gaza to be carried out in the occupied West Bank and Lebanon.”

Shahriari made the remarks in his opening speech at the 38th edition of the International Islamic Unity Conference on Thursday.

Regional security hinges on a practical unity among the Islamic countries in confrontation with the occupying Israeli regime and protecting security for the civilians in the occupied Palestinian territories, he said.

World arrogant powers are in constant use of their money, power and plots to violate the rights of other people for their own interests, he added.

They do not spare any oppression for more gains as we see now in the Gaza Strip and the occupied lands where their hands are soaked in blood of the civilian Palestinians, women, children and the elderly, Shahriari further noted.

Commenting on the objectives of the international conference, he said that the event aims to follow on the diplomacy of proximity and the discourse of unified ummah to establish a union of Islamic countries.

“Establishing a new Islamic civilization is dependent on protecting regional security with the use of wisdom of the rulers in the West Asian countries.”

The Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought expressed the hope that the Islamic unity will lead to convergence in science and technology, regional security, political power and fruitful economic as well as cultural exchanges.

Shahriari also voiced hope that the unity among Muslim countries would provide the proper grounds for establishment of the union of Islamic countries.

The 38th International Islamic Unity Conference which kicked off today will wrap up on September 21.
