The Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called on the religious scholars to adopt a single united approach in the face of the ongoing crises.
Pezeshkian made the remarks at the 38th edition of the Islamic Unity Conference which kicked off in the Iranian capital Tehran today with hundreds of Shia and Sunni scholars in attendance.
“We must practice tolerance and show the Islamic unity in reality” he underlined.
He attached prime importance to the notions of peace and unity among Muslim countries, advising all Muslims to put aside differences.
If Muslim countries stand shoulder to shoulder, they can foil the plots of the foes, he stated.
Saying prayers and fasting address and enhance unity among Muslims, he underscored.
Commenting on the the ongoing war in the Gaza that has killed over 41,250 Palestinians, Pezeshkian said that Israeli regime keeps killing the elderly, children and women.
The regime has committed crimes because Muslims are not united enough to counter it, he noted.
“Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) always advised Muslims to focus on unity, affection and brotherhood among tribes in Sudia Arabia.”
He never said that believers are brothers but all Muslims are like brothers.
European countries currently enjoy single currency, Pezeshkian said, noting that those states have removed some borders to facilitate relations.
He put forward an initiative to connect Islamic regional countries through common railway network.
At the end of his speech, the Iranian President, Masoud Pezeshkian attended the ceremony to unveil the latest books on Islamic unity and the issue of Palestine.
The new edition of the conference entitled “Islamic Cooperation to Achieve Common Values with an Emphasis on Palestine Issue” opened at the Islamic Conference Hall on Thursday September 19.
More than 150 elites, prayer leaders, intellectuals and activists from across the world attend the conference underway on September 19-21 with the main focus of the event on the issue of Palestine.
The major Islamic event is annually held by World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought in part of efforts for the Muslim intellectuals to convene and discuss the developments across the world of Islam.
