The Islamic Republic has always played an effective role in the support of the defenseless nation of Palestine, the vice president of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Maulana Waliullah Sayeedi Falahi says.

Sayeedi has made the remarks in the 38th International Islamic Unity Conference in Tehran.

Muslims are presently in dire need of unity, the Indian analyst pointed out.

He lauded late Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic, who put forward an invaluable initiative to highlight the importance of the Palestinian cause.

Imam Khomeini designated the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as the International Quds day.

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei attaches prime importance to the Palestinian cause, he noted.

The new edition of the conference entitled “Islamic Cooperation to Achieve Common Values with an Emphasis on Palestine Issue” opened at the Islamic Conference Hall on Thursday September 19.
 
More than 150 elites, prayer leaders, intellectuals and activists from across the world attend the conference underway on September 19-21 with the main focus of the event on the issue of Palestine.
 
The major Islamic event is annually held by World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought in part of efforts for the Muslim intellectuals to convene and discuss the developments across the world of Islam.
