Leader Pardons, Commutes Sentences for 2,887 Prisoners

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has pardoned or commuted sentences of 2,887 prisoners.

The Head of the Judiciary Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejehi had asked Ayatollah Khamenei to pardon or commute more than 2000 prisoner's sentences. 

Article 110 of the Iranian Constitution allows the Leader to pardon or commute prison terms of the inmates upon a proposal made by the chief of the Judiciary.
