A prominent Iranian Sunni cleric emphasized the importance of scientific debates among the different denominations as the way to settle the minor disagreements and boost solidarity in the Islamic ummah.

Mamusta Sayyed Muhammad Muhammadi, from the Sunni-inhabited province of Kermanshah made the comments in his speech at the 14^th webinar of the 38^th Islamic Unity Conference on “Islamic cooperation to achieve common values with an emphasis on the Palestinian issue", reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He said that diversity of ideologies and differences have been inevitable throughout history though, according to the holy book of Islam, Muslims should maintain their unity despite possible disagreements.
 
He warned that the enemies spare no effort to spark division in the Muslim Ummah and called on Muslims from all denominations to stay cautious against the divisive plots.
 
He hailed the efforts by the late founder of the Islamic Republic, Imam Khomeini (RA) to boost solidarity among the members of the Islamic nation.
 
According to the Iranian cleric, a helpful strategy to strengthen the solidarity in the Islamic nation is to highlight the commonalities and avoiding any focus on the disagreements.
 
Mamusta Sayyed Muhammad Muhammadi said,” Scientific debates among the Islamic diversities can contribute to resolving the conflicts and strengthen the Ummah in confrontation with the enemies.”
 
He hailed the fraternal relations between the Shia and Sunni Muslims in Iran based on mutual respect for the different ideologies.
 
The comments by Iranian Sunni cleric came in an address to the Shia and Sunni scholars from across the globe in the first section of the 38^th Islamic Unity Conference.
 
The second section of the conference is scheduled to be held in the Iranian capital Tehran on September 19-21 with hundreds of prominent Muslim leaders and political figures in attendance.
