Syrian Foreign Ministry has condemned in strongest terms an Israeli attack on the capital Damascus that left nearly 20 people dead and injured.
On Tuesday, Israeli missiles hit a residential building in the Mezzah neighborhood, west of Damascus killing at least seven people including women and children wounding eleven others.
“Nearly at 20.15 on Tuesday, the Israeli enemy launched an aerial aggression with 3 missiles from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting a residential building at the densely-populated Mezzah neighborhood in Damascus, claiming the lives of 7 civilians, among them women and children, injuring 11 others in initial toll and causing huge material damages to properties,” a Syrian military source told the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
The Syrian foreign ministry on Tuesday night called the Israeli aggression a brutal crime against defenseless civilians.
The ministry also said the strike was an extension of Israel’s bloodshed across the region, including Lebanon and Palestine.
Syria has consistently called on the UN Security Council to take action against frequent Israeli military assaults, which it views as clear violations of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
