Nicaragua severs relations with ‘genocidal’ Israeli regime

12 Oct 2024 - 15:05

Nicaragua has severed its diplomatic relations with Israeli regime denouncing the regime in Tel Aviv as ‘genocidal’ and ‘fascist’ over more than a year of killing campaign in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Nicaragua's government, in a Friday statement, said the break in relations was due to Israel's relentless attacks on Palestinian territories.

Earlier in the day, the nation's congress had passed a resolution requesting Nicaragua take action to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the Israeli onslaught on Gaza.

The war, the Nicaraguan government said, now also "extends against Lebanon and gravely threatens Syria, Yemen and Iran."

At least eleven other countries, including Jordan, Bahrain, Turkey, Bolivia, Colombia, Honduras, Chile, Belize, Brazil, South Africa and Chad, have recalled their ambassadors to Israel or severed ties altogether.

The ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since October 7, 2023, has so far resulted in 42,175 documented Palestinian fatalities, with an additional 98,336 individuals sustaining injuries, the majority of whom are women and children.
