Thousands of people have converged in a mass funeral procession held for the commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan, martyred in Israeli strike on Beirut.
A number of officials, among them President Masoud Pezeshkian, senior IRGC commanders and people from all walks of life attended the ceremony held in downtown Tehran on Tuesday morning, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
Mourners laid flowers as they held pictures of the resistance commanders and leaders assassinated by Israeli regime.
The participants also chanted “Down with USA”, “Down with Israel” and “We will Resist till the End” waving flags of Iran, Palestine and resistance movements.

A mass funeral procession was held a day earlier at the holy shrines in Karbala and Najaf in Iraq before the body of the slain IRGC commander was carried to Iran.

Another farewell ceremony has been scheduled to be held Isfahan on Wednesday before the body is laid to rest on Thursday.
Iranian military advisor and an IRGC commander, Brigadier General Abbas Nilforoushan was martyred together with the Secretary General of Hezbollah resistance movement, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, in an Israeli strike targeting the southern suburbs of Beirut late in September.
