The Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought says the presidents of more than 20 universities will meet in an international conference to be held in the holy city of Mashhad to discuss the Muslim world issues.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari made the remarks in a meeting with Mohammad Moazzeni, the president of the University of Shiraz in a meeting to the Iranian southern city on Monday, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He said the first agreements for organization of the conference were made with the presidents of five prestigious universities in Iran that academics from two neighboring countries, Iraq and Turkey attend the conference.
The holy city of Mashhad which appeals to the Sunni community was chosen as the host for the first meeting with Baghdad and Konya as the second and third places for the next editions of the conference.
The senior cleric said some expert-level discussions with the academic boards of universities regarding the topic of Islamic unity inspired the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought to hold the upcoming conference in Mashhad.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari said that the capacities of Muslims must be at service of the demands in the world of Islam and added,” Some general topics will be discussed in these meetings including social issues so that the conferences address all people.”
According to the cleric Iran’s holy city of Mashhad will host academics from Iran, Iraq and Turkey in the first edition of the conference on November 11.
