11 Nov 2024 - 13:53

The Iraqi Cultural Attaché in Iran called human dignity an innate fact in human being and the highest value that must be preserved for all people.

Yasser Abdul Zahra Al-Hajjaj, in his speech at the opening ceremony of the first international conference on ‘Human Dignity, Family Challenges in Modern World’ called human dignity a principle highlighted in all international laws, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

Speaking at the meeting underway in Iran’s northeastern city of Mashhad, he said,” Any violation of human dignity amounts to violation of human rights.”

He stressed that human dignity must not be disregarded for anyone and said,” The most basic form of that is the right to live, freedom and justice.”

Yasser Abdul Zahra referred to the thousands of Palestinian civilians displaced or killed as a result of the Israeli genocidal war on the besieged Gaza Strip and demanded,” Is not that a breach of justice and dignity? Should we stand silent towards the violation of human rights in Gaza and Lebanon?”

The Iraqi diplomat added,” It is our duty to raise our voice in support of the people in Gaza and Lebanon in any possible way and push the international community to take solid stance on the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza.”

The first meeting of the ‘Human Dignity and Family Challenges in Modern World’ comes as part of a three-day meting organized by Iran’s World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought and hosted by the Ferdowsi University of Mashhad.
