Israeli regime forces have detained at least 435 Palestinian women in the occupied West Bank since the regime unleashed its genocidal war on the besieged Strip in October last year.
The Israeli occupation forces arrested more than 435 women in the West Bank, including Occupied Jerusalem, since the beginning of the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza on October 7, 2023, the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) said on Monday.
Marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the PPS said that there are no exact estimates of the number of Palestinian women detained by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip.
“Though some women were released from detention, it’s certain that there are women who are still detained in the Israeli camps, and are subjected to enforced disappearance.”
“This year is the bloodiest for Palestinian women,” the PPS added, noting that “targeting Palestinian women has been one of the most prominent and systematic policies of the Israeli occupation since the start of the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.”
The PPS pointed out that the Israeli occupation carried out widespread arrests of Gaza women, including minors and elderly women.
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli forces have jailed or detained over 11,800 Palestinian citizens from the West Bank and Jerusalem, including 435 women and 775 children, according to Palestinian figures.
According to Palestinian organizations defending prisoners’ rights, those Palestinian detainees have been exposed to different violations during and after their detention.
