Israeli regime has been denying entry of baby formula to the Gaza Strip for nearly three months amid the desperate situation that impedes Palestinian women breastfeed their children.
In recent remarks to Qatar News Agency, Ahmed al-Farra, director of the Nasser Hospital’s pediatrics and maternity department, explained that some women in Gaza cannot breastfeed their babies due to their suffering from malnutrition or illness, so they resort to hazardous alternatives, such as giving infants starch or dissolved herbs instead, which pose a health risk.
Farra warned that the Israeli army’s persistence in banning the entry of baby milk to Gaza puts the lives of children in great danger.
According to Palestinian official figures from Gaza, more than 3,500 Palestinian children under age five are at risk of starving to death due to Israel’s starvation policy in the Gaza Strip.
