Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif convened on Thursday in Cairo, during the 11th Summit of Developing Countries (D-8).

During their meeting, Masoud Pezeshkian  and Shehbaz Sharif expressed optimism that the decisions made at the D-8 Summit would foster increased cooperation among member countries across various sectors. They reaffirmed their dedication to strengthening the brotherly relations between Pakistan and Iran in all areas of mutual interest, with a focus on bilateral trade, economic development, energy, security, and regional connectivity. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stressed the importance of tapping into the extensive potential for bilateral trade and economic collaboration by exploring new avenues within the existing institutional framework between the two nations. He also highlighted the need to further develop border markets, noting that some have already been inaugurated, with ongoing work on others, to enhance the development of border regions and improve the livelihoods of their inhabitants.
