The Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought says cutting off relations with the Israeli regime has been a religious and humanitarian responsibility throughout the years.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari made the remarks in a letter addressing the world Muslim scholars regarding the arrest warrant issued for the Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu over the war crimes he committed against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
The cleric referred to more than a year of “flagrant brutality” by the Israeli regime against Palestinians hailed the resistance for its high morale, sacrifices and utmost vigilance in face of the Israeli regime.
He said,” One of the key achievements of the perseverance by the resistance front was further defamation of the Israeli regime in the international arena” and added,” Today, Israeli regime is not only abhorred among the Muslims and West Asia region but also among the rulers, who used to be its main allies throughout the years.”
According to the cleric, among the blessings of more than a year of resistance (by the Palestinians) against Israel, is the official announcement by the European and non-European governments that they admit the arrest warrant issued by the International Court of Justice and that they will detain the Israeli prime minister in case he travels to any of these countries.”
“In fact, the pressure by the people has pushed the governments to make such a decision”, he said.
The senior scholar noted that the severance of relations with the Israeli regime has never been as easy as it is today and it has been a religious and humanitarian necessity throughout the years.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari said,” We, Muslim scholars, must call on our rulers to enjoin the good and forbid wrong as the topmost call to enjoin the good is to support the resistance against the meanest regime of history”, adding,” The wrongest we must forbid is to be silent against the crimes by Israeli regime.”
The Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought said,” We Muslim scholars, backed by the people, must push our governments to take more responsible and stern stances in opposition with the Israeli regime and block any interest or transfer of goods for the occupied lands via our countries.”
The letter by the Iranian cleric comes a month after the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for the Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the minister of military affairs Yoav Gallant over the crimes the regime forces committed against Palestinians in the besieged Gaza Strip.
Israel has launched a genocidal war against the Palestinians in Gaza in October 7, 2023 leaving killing more than 45,200 Palestinians and injuring over 107,500 others.
