Muslim scholars urge global Ummah to save Palestinians in Gaza

8 Jan 2025 - 19:25

The International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) has said that the global Islamic and Arab Ummah is “required” to rescue the Palestinians in Gaza after “the world has abandoned” them. The IUMS named the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League specifically in its statement.

Al-Sallabi stressed that the OIC considers Palestine to be its first issue, while the Arab League still views Palestine as a central issue. He pointed out that the GCC countries are directly affected by the repercussions of the unjust war against the Palestinians.
The IUMS official stressed that supporting those who are oppressed is a basic principle of Islam, which urges its followers to stand with the oppressed and defend their rights by all legitimate means. He added that the Palestinians represent all Muslims in defending the first Qiblah, and Arabs in protecting their national security.
The “criminal” Israeli occupation forces have destroyed all the basic necessities for life in Gaza, said Al-Sallabi, including schools, universities, homes, hospitals and government institutions, as well as water and electricity networks, and have prevented the entry of medicine and food.
“We are now seeing how children die of hunger and of the bitter cold, in scenes that we have not witnessed in our history,” he added.
Dr Al-Sallabi appealed to major Islamic institutions, most notably Al-Azhar Al-Sharif in Cairo, to use all means possible to save the Palestinians from the Israeli occupation, hunger, lack of medicine and the bitter cold.
“The Israeli occupation crimes, which we have witnessed with our own eyes in Palestine, will affect everyone,” he concluded. “There are no limits to the occupation’s ambitions and there is no obstacle to its crimes.”
