Berri cautioned against designed schemes aimed to turn the Palestinian Cause into a "monster statelet"
Lebanese Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, highlighted the importance of the imminent conference on Christians' future in the Middle East and extolled the "historic" role of this community in the region.
USEK is hosting on forthcoming November 18 and 19 a conference on the future of the Christians, at the behest of EU Parliament's members and a number of Mideast Parliaments.
The Speaker is to task a parliamentary delegation to partake in the conference's proceedings.
Berri made these remarks during the periodic weekly meeting with Wednesday Deputies at the Parliament.
The meeting also took up an array of current affairs in Lebanon and the broader Arab region.
The Speaker did not fail to avow that reforms were on track in neighboring Syria. He said he reckoned on the Arab committee's visit in Damascus to discuss the Syrian crisis with President Assad.
Turning to Palestine, Berri cautioned against designed schemes aimed to turn the Palestinian Cause into a "monster statelet" which does not comply with the Palestinian people's aspirations and right to build and independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Separately, he contacted by phone the Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Mohammad Rashid Qabbani, to check on his health.
