Lebanese Premier Minister

Funding STL nips strife in the bud

TNA - Beirut

1 Dec 2011 - 10:27

Lebanese Premier Minister Najib Mikati said Wednesday that decision to fund STL nips strife in the bud and disengage Lebanon from schemes serving the Israeli enemy.

Announcing early today that Lebanon has financed its portion of the UN-backed court, the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, Premier Mikati said this step aims at protecting Lebanon by the principle of justice and not to be "the Prime Minister who reneges on Lebanon's international obligations."

Mikati has then called for immediate return to dialogue under the patronage of President Michel Sleiman.
"Dialogue is the sole mean to find a common ground for the Lebanese."

He urged ministers to consider this day as a new beginning for governmental work.

Finally Mikati hoped that "Arab brothers as well as the international community would be aware of the delicate situation in Lebanon and support the country," pledging herein to put Lebanon's interest above all other considerations.

From his part, House Speaker Nabih Berri called each of Lebanese President Michel Sleiman and Prime Minister Najib Mikati congratulating them on the solution to STL issue.
