Lebanese Foreign and Expatriates Minister Adnan Mansour stressed on Wednesday while meeting with Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdel Karim Ali at the ministry the necessity to monitor Lebanese-Syrian borders and prevent weapons smuggling.

Discussions also focused on bilateral ties between both countries.

Ali said after the meeting "Syria assures all people that it is heading towards reform steps next week".

The Ambassador did not respond when asked about Arab League's reaction to Syria's acceptance to the protocol project.

Mansour later met with Arab-Italian friendship center delegation and discussed the center's economic and humanitarian projects in the Arab world, particularly in Lebanon. 

Meanwhile U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for the near East Jeffrey Feltman arrived on Wednesday Lebanon coming from Amman.
U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Maura Connelly received him on the airport.
