Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Gazanfar Roknabadi stressed that any country in the region under these circumstances, particularly in Syria should solve its problems between the people and the regime.

Beirut - Taqrib News Agency (TNA) - Roknabadi described Syria's signature of the protocol as "a positive step", after meeting with Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai on Tuesday morning at Bkirki - Patriarch's headquarter.

Roknabadi added "the meeting with Rai tackled latest developments on the regional and international scenes, in addition to the bilateral ties between Lebanon and Iran".

The ambassador pointed out that the aim of his visit to Bkirki was also to discuss the Islamic-Christian dialogue conference which would be held on the 17th of January, in the participation of delegations from Middle East countries and North Africa. 

In a related context, Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah discussed the domestic and regional situation with a delegation from the Maronite Patriarchate, a statement issued by Hezbollah information Bureau read.

The statement added that the Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros Rahi delegated Bishop Boulos Mattar along with two members representing Bkerki Committee for dialogue with Hizbullah , Deputy Patriarch Bishop Samir Mazloum and Prince Hareth Chehab, to visit Hizbullah Secretary General Al-Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. Hizbullah Political Council member Ghaleb Abu Zeinab attended the meeting.

The delegation thanked Nasrallah for sending a delegation to congratulate Al-Rahi after his election. They also thanked him for the concern presented in the popular receptions of his Beatitude in the Lebanese regions, mainly in the South, Baalbek and Hermel.

Nasrallah and the delegation agreed to have constant communication over different issues and developments.
