Thailand will recognize a Palestinian state at the United Nations when it comes up for a vote in September said Nabil Shaath, member of Fatah Central Committee.

Shaath discussed in a meeting with the Thai foreign minister, Pisamo Fagan, Palestinian plans to seek UN recognition of a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, urging it support the Palestinian bid.

The Fatah official, on a mission by President Mahmoud Abbas to get as many world support for the Palestinian state as possible, will also visit India and Russia to discuss and coordinate political stances regarding the Palestinians’ September plans.

In a related context,  An internal European Union report prepared by the EU delegates in Quds (Jerusalem) and Ramallah denounced as "illegal Israeli policy and plans to change the character of East Quds," according to reports published Wednesday.

The report said "Israeli policies aimed to give an overwhelming Jewish identity to occupied East Quds at the expense of its Muslim and Christian residents threaten its religious diversity and provide fuel to those who want to further radicalize the conflict with potential regional and global repercussions. "

The report mainly stressed that EU regards East Quds as occupied territory.

The EU further recommended compiling non-binding guidelines for EU tour operators to prevent support for settlement business in East Quds, as well as preventing or discouraging financial transactions from EU member states supporting settlement activity in East Quds by adopting appropriate EU legislation.

Moreover, the EU recommended "forming a black list of violent Israeli settlers in East Quds, in order to assess whether or not they should be allowed to enter EU member states."

The report also called to raise public awareness of "Israeli settlement products by providing information on settlement products to major EU retailers, as well as to inform EU citizens of financial risks involved in purchasing property in occupied East Quds."
