Israeli forces detain 7,000 Palestinians in 2022

According to Palestine Center for Prisoners' Studies, Israeli forces have arrested 7,000 Palestinian citizens from the occupied West Bank in 2022 among them 164 women, 865 children and six MPs.


 “Israel arrested 865 Palestinian children, including 142 under the age of 12 in 2022,” Riyad Al Ashqar, the director of the Center, said. 
 
He underlined that the Israeli forces in one such incident, had arrested the two-year-old Hammoudi Amash at the Barta'a checkpoint, claiming that he insulted the Israeli soldiers at the checkpoint.
 
Minor Palestinian girls such as 14-year-old Jenin Salman from Negev, 16-year-old Hala Srour from Ramallah, and 16-year-old Jannat Zidat from al-Khalil, were detained for few days before their release.
 
The Israeli courts imposed on the families of detained Palestinian children fines of 140,000 USD in 2022 despite their deteriorating economic conditions.
 
164 Palestinian women including Bushra al-Tawil and Azhar Assaf were arrested this year. Al-Tawil, a Palestinian journalist from Tulkarem was issued 8-month administrative detention order.
 
The Israeli courts issued administrative detention orders against 2,340 Palestinians including ex-prisoners, children, MPs, and officials.
 
Moreover, 410 Palestinian citizens have been detained under the pretext of incitement against Israel.

 
4,500 Palestinian citizens are currently held in Israeli prisons under horrific circumstances.

Moreover, nine Palestinian citizens were arrested while passing through the Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing.
 
Furthermore, the Palestinian worker Tahir Abu Ouda from Beit Hanoun was arrested after his workplace in 1948 Occupied Palestine was stormed despite that he has a permit.

 
Five Palestinian prisoners passed away in 2022 due to the deliberate Israeli policy of medical negligence practiced against them, bringing the number of Palestinian prisoners martyred to 232.
 
43-year-old Mohammed Zubidi from Jenin passed away in Rambam hospital in Haifa in 1948 occupied Palestine after 48 hours of his arrest. Zubidi was seriously injured when he was arrested and his body is still detained.
 
Mahir Turkman from Jenin, who suffered from severe burns, passed away in Tel HaShomer hospital 40 days after his arrest due to the Israeli medical neglect policy. His body is still detained.
 
16-year-old Mohammad Hamid from Silwad town in Ramallah was shot and seriously injured by the Israeli forces bullets on his arrest. He died few hours later and his body was detained for five days before it was released.
 
68-year-old Palestinian prisoner Saadiya Matar from al-Khalil died behind Israeli bars after she suffered from serious health complications in in Damon jail. Matar was beaten by Israeli soldiers a few months prior to her death.
 
The last Palestinian prisoner who passed away in Israel prisons is the cancer-stricken Nasser Abu Hamid after his health condition deteriorated due to the Israeli policy of medical neglect. He passed away after spending 20 years in Israeli prisons.
