Taghribnews (TNA) - Iran Leader Stresses Preserving Syrian Resistance Identity

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution during a meeting with Syrian President and his accompanying delegation, considered the resistance to be the privileged identity of Syria and emphasized that Syria's special position in the region is also due to this privileged identity and this important feature must be preserved.

Ayatollah Khamenei appreciated the late President Raisi and his Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and stressed the shore-up of Iran-Syria relations as two pillars of the resistance front.

He stressed the preservation of the identity and said: "The Westerners and their followers in the region planned to overthrow the political system of Syria and remove this country from the equations of the region by waging a war against Syria, but they did not succeed."
The Leader pointed to US' and Europe's political and economic pressures on Iran and Syria and stressed more regular cooperation to pass the pressures.
With regard to the approach of Iran to Syria during the administration of late President Raisi, he said that the current acting president Mohammad Mokhber would follow the same path.
Still, Ayatollah Khamenei criticized the political position of some regional countries on the issue of Palestine and what is going on in Gaza, referred to the recent Arab states' summit in Manama of Bahrain, and said the Palestinian issue was mostly ignored by some states yet some other states acted well.
He noted that the future is promising and expressed hope that all could fulfill their duties and reach the very bright future.

In this meeting, Syrian President Bashar Assad expressed his condolences on the martyrdom of the late Iranian President and foreing minister to the leader of the Islamic Revolution, the government and nation of Iran, noting: "Iran-Syria relationship are strategic and it is progressing siginificantly under the guidance of Iran's leader." The Syrian President added the late Iranian President martyred Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister martyred Hossein Amirabdollahian were at the head of the implementation of these guidance.
Referring to Raisi's humbleness, wisdom and ethical personality, the Syrian President called the late Iranian President a clear example of the positions and slogans of the Islamic Revolution and added: "In the past three years, martyred Raisi had an important impact on the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in regional issues and the Palestinian issue, as well as deepening Iran-Syria relations."
Bashar al-Assad also mentioned the issue of resistance in the region and said: "After more than 50 years, the axis of resistance in the region has progressed and has now turned into a political and ideological approach.."

The President of Syria emphasized that our position has always been that any retreat against the West will lead to their advancement, adding: "I announced a few years ago that the cost of resistance is lower than the cost of compromise, and this issue is now very clear to the Syrian people, meanwhile the recent cases in Gaza and the victories of the resistance proved this issue for the people of the region corrobrating that resistance is a principle.

The Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad appreciated Ayatollah Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, for his prominent and important role in supporting the resistance in the region and also for supporting Syria in all fields.
