'Syrian ceasefire brings no decisive result'

“Syrian ceasefire is held in a critical milieu and regarding different objectives two sides follow cannot bring decisive result,” said political analyst.

The Middle East political analyst, Saeid Zahedi Movahhedi in an exclusive interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) beckoned to the standing ceasefire in Syria ceasefire plan stressing, “Syrian ceasefire is held in a critical milieu and regarding different objectives two sides follow cannot bring firm and decisive result.”

“Syria ceasefire has been established in a very vulnerable situation, inasmuch as both Americans and Europeans are under so much pressure by public opinions,” pointed out the political commentator.

“In the meantime, the objectives two sides has advanced to date  are running counter to each other, since U.S and Europe authorities has not stopped forwarded their aims in parting Syria,” highlighted Zahedi Movahhedi.

The Middle East political analyst went on to underscore westerns’ main policies and objectives had not been changed and it would be obvious which groups they were siding with.

“As to problems related to displaced people, Europeans and Americans somehow withdraw from their previous stances,” noted the political commentator adding especially France had taken a softer position.

The political analyst pointed to U.S new policy through which the country accepts that Basshar Assad runs Alawite areas and the rest of Syria is divided between the Kurds and the Sunnis.

“Our goal is preserving the territorial integrity of Syria; all the same, western countries are after parting Syria,” pointed out Zahedi Movahhedi stressing the foresaid policies are by nature different.

“Given the aforementioned objectives and their different natures, the ceasefire cannot bring decisive and firm result,” highlighted the Middle East commentator concluding Turkey and Saudi Arabia were also against the ceasefire and if they fell silent it was because of public opinion.

According to a new report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the Syrian conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.

On Monday, the United States and Russia said a truce has been planned to take effect in the battle-scarred country on February 27.
