Islamic clerics, guardian of people’s beliefs

“The activities that Islamic scholars are involved with, is of great importance so much so that a jurist’s position is considered 1000 times higher than that of a devoted Muslim at the side of Allah Almighty," said Ayatollah Wahid Khorasani.

Making his remarks at a meeting with Qom Seminary scholars on the topic of ‘Cleric’s duties in present era’ mounted in Ayatollah Wahid’s office, the grand Ayatollah pointed at the high position of religious scholars at the side of Allah Almighty and said, “The activities that Islamic scholars are involved with, is of great importance so much so that a jurist’s position is considered 1000 times higher than that of a devoted Muslim at the side of Allah Almighty.

"The point is, Jurist is the one who preserves the society’s beliefs and faith in Allah whereas a devoted worshipper only tries to purify his or her own soul,” highlighted the senior cleric.

The Grand Ayatollah Wahid Khorasani reiterated that intellect is the main pillar of humanity and added, “These flesh, skin and bone of ours are not criteria of human values, since the animals possess these elements in stronger forms as well, yet what accounts for humanitarian value and dignity are intellect and our power of thinking.”

“If one’s intellect is mature enough, he or she will not be arrogant of themselves both in action or knowledge. As it is possible to see someone on the street or anywhere whom you might not give any credit to or think they are not much, but actually those people may be closer to God than you are because they have done some divine actions," concluded the grand Ayatollah.
