Shia cleric stresses loyalty of Iranian Sunni community

Iranian Shia cleric hailed the patriotism of Iranian Sunni community warning against hostile moves which have targeted Shia Sunni unity.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Nourali Deylam, cultural deputy at bureau of the Supreme Leader in Sunni affairs in north, stressed home country has nothing to do with denomination of the people highlighting necessity of mutual respect among different Islamic denomination as a preventive move against enemies of Islam, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He referred to a direct command by the Supreme Leader regarding equal services for both Shia and Sunni seminaries in the country and praised the reciprocal trust and gratitude of the Sunni Muslims in Iran for the Ayatollah Khamenei.
 
The cleric noted the gratitude of the Sunni community for security prevailing Iran leading to growth of cooperation to protect the unity and security in the country in line with other religions and denominations.
 
Hujjat-ul-Islam Deylam said enlightenment and stressing commonalities, particularly Qur’an, as the agreed principle among all Muslims and underlined the holy book of Islam and lifestyle of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) as the important principles for solidarity of the Islamic nation.
 
The scholar referred to the respectful behavior of Shia Imams (AS) with followers of other Islamic denominations and also recommendations of the Imams (AS) for kindness and fraternal ties with followers of other schools of thought.
 
“In order to settle the disagreements we should get familiar with ideological principles of each other” said the Shia cleric and added that several differences are due to lack of knowledge on the beliefs of other denominations.
 
The religious figure denounced Wahhabi movement for spread of allegations apostasy against Shia community and stressed the more knowledgeable Shia and Sunni Muslims become the less effective these plots will be.
 
He stressed necessity of mutual respect among different Islamic denominations and historical or ideological disagreements to be discussed in a panel of experts.”
 
He noted,” One of our present issues is that disagreements are discussed among the ordinary people and those who are not well-informed on ideologies; hence, there appears the issue of desecrations against sanctities.”
 
Hujjat-ul-Islam Deylam warned against enemies who are in pursuit of opportunities to promote their dispersive plots targeting Islamic unity and said,” An enemy who was not able to beat us in direct confrontation targeted solidarity of Shia and Sunni who were arrayed in the same front to defend their country.”
 
He denounced enemies for making use of the lack of knowledge and extremist views of some prejudiced Shia and Sunni groups to spark dispersion among Muslims and highlighted informing the people on plots of the enemies as a mission of the scholars.
 
The cleric stressed the hostility of enemies with Islam warning against their indiscriminate hostility with both Shia and Sunni Muslims.
 
He hailed the Sunni community in Iran for contributing more than 10’000 martyrs during Ira-Iraq war.
