Top cleric urges for high turnout in election

Iranian Jurisprudent and religious senior cleric Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi called for high turnout in coming presidential election urging Iranian nation to partake the event so as to disappoint the enemies, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

In his line, a millions-strong turnout in the country’s upcoming presidential election would definitely foil the plots concocted by enemies and break their back.

According to the Iranian religious cleric, people's active participation in the polling would change domestic and international circumstances to the advantage of the nation of Iran.

Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi  went on to stress that any dereliction on the part of voters in Iran's elections this month would harm the country.

Some 55 million people are eligible to vote for a new president on May 19 in what is expected to be a close race. Previous election results have usually produced major surprises. The two major factions in the elections are Reformists which support Rouhani and Principlists backing Raeisi and Qalibaf.

To Iranian religous cleric, President elections is a critical and very valuable issue for the Islamic Republic, which embraced different tastes and political views as well as diverse inclinations.
