Iran, Turkey, Qatar weigh plans for closer trade ties

The trilateral meeting, held in Tehran on Saturday, was attended by Iran's Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi, Turkey’s Minister of Economy Nihat Zeybekci, and Qatar's Economy Minister Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani.

In the gathering, the three ministers weighed up plans for the expansion of trade interaction between Tehran, Ankara and Doha, and considered the possibility of shipping Turkish goods to Qatar through Iran.

According to Tasnim, Zeybekci had announced earlier that Iran provides the best route for land transit when it comes to the Turkish exports to Qatar.

Iran and Turkey became the two major suppliers of Qatar’s needs for food after Saudi Arabia and a number of others severed ties the Doha government and suspended air, sea and land transport with Qatar in June.
