The Ofer court added a three-month, non-renewable extension to Issa’s sentence, setting his released for 1 November.

Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) lawyer Mahmoud Al-Halabi said that this was Issa’s second administrative detention sentence since he was detained on 3 April.

Al-Halabi added that the Ofer court had initially ordered that Issa be released, but later ruled that he be sentenced to further administrative detention.

Administrative detention is a policy of detention without charge of trial which can last for renewable periods of up to six months.

Prisoners’ rights group Addameer estimated that 6,128 Palestinians were held in Israeli prisons as of July, including 320 minors and 450 prisoners held in administrative detention.
