Iran hosts 11th edition of Int'l Tribal Culture Festival

The 11th edition of International Tribal Culture Festival opened in the city of Gorgan in Golestan Province northeastern Iran, on Monday evening during a ceremony attended by the head of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization.

On the sidelines of the event that the ongoing exhibition displays handicrafts from different provinces in 145 pavilions, Secretary of the festival Ahmad Golchin told reporters, "Over 200 artists from Golestan and 60 artists from other provinces are participating in the exhibition."

The 11th International Tribal Culture, according to ISNA, will be held in two provincial cities of Gorgan and Gonbad-e Kavous this year, Golchin said, noting that the event will be held in Gorgan from September 4-7 while Gonbad-e Kavous is to host it from September 9-11.

The border province of Golestan located 30 km from the Caspian Sea and is home to different tribes and religions.

In a bid to boost tourism industry, Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization decided to conduct various festivals in different Iranian cities and provinces to introduce colorful Iranian culture and traditions to the domestic and international tourists.

Similar festivals have been held in the western province of Zanjan in the previous weeks.
