Iran against any change in geopolitical borders in ME

 “The Islamic Republic of Iran is opposed to any measure intended to change the geopolitical borders or disintegrate the countries of the region,” pointed out  Brigadier General Amir Hatami, the Iranian Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistical Support, on Tuesday while receiving Turkish Ambassador to Tehran, Reza Hakan Tekin, “we hope that the officials of Iraqi Kurdistan got the message from Iran’s blocking its air space to them, which was carried out upon the request of the central government of Iraq.”

The Iranian military official exchanged views with the Turkish envoy on bilateral cooperation and the regional developments, during the meeting held in the headquarters of defense ministry in Tehran.

Referring to growing relations between the two countries in areas of politics, economy, and culture, the Iranian minister voiced hope that the talks between political and defense officials of the two countries expand and enhance Tehran-Ankara ties more than ever.

“The recent move of Iraqi Kurdistan in holding a referendum of independence while the Iraqi nation is fighting with the remaining members of ISIL terrorists is tantamount to plying in favor of terrorists and their regional and cross-regional backers,” reiterated the Iranian official, “an issue that would create problems in the region, Iraq, and especially Iraqi Kurdistan,” he made the points referring to the principle policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran in defending sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries.

Meanwhile the Turkish envoy to Tehran greeted the Iranian minister for acquiring the position in the second term administration of President Rouhani and voiced hope for more growth in military cooperation between the two countries.

“Basically the relations between Iran and Turkey are under the influence of numerous historical and cultural commonalities and I hope that the upcoming visit of Turkish President and military Chief-of-Staff to Tehran increase cooperation between the two states for securing mutual interests, peace, stability, and security in the region,” highlighted the Turkish diplomat.
