Seyyed Abbas Shubbar, head of religious freedom committee of SALAM for Democracy and Human Rights in Bahrain in a tweet has slammed the strict restrictions and closure of Shia mosques in the country during the mourning month of Muharram, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
Manama has reportedly summoned all trustees and guardians at Hazrat Zahra (AS) Mosque in Hamad and warned of any mourning ceremonies to be held during Muharram.
Bahraini officials had threatened to close the Shia worshipping sites in case of broadcasting mourning ceremonies.
Head of religious freedom committee of SALAM DHR also censured the security officials in Bahrain for closing the religious ceremonies without any legal reason.
Top Shia cleric Sheikh Isa Qassim has previously issued a message to denounce the decision regarding closure of the Mosque saying," This decision is similar to the many decisions of its kind that are only viewed by public opinion as aimed to stir up sedition and disturb the atmosphere of the Ashura season, and as one of the forms of the continuous warfare against the Islamic thought in general, and the thought of Ahl Al-Bayt (peace be upon them) in particular."
