Shia jurist warns of desecration of Islamic denominations

Senior Iranian jurist has warned of desecration of sanctities belonging to other denominations stressing that sacrilegious acts will harm Islamic unity.

Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi, in a meeting with Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought to denounce a minority of extremists who bring division stressing that the thoughts and rhetoric of Shia and Sunni thinkers must be set as the scale in debates, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
Top cleric counted "accurate explanation of thoughts" as a factor that reduces disagreements and eliminates misconceptions among followers of different Islamic schools of thought.
 
Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi called on the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought to invite Sunni elites and directing organized debates on its agenda.
 
Professor of Qom seminary warned against desecration of sanctities belonging to other denominations and added," In view of Sharia, desecration of sanctities of other denominations is forbidden as such measures inflict much damage to Islamic unity."
 
Hujjat-ul-Islam Shahriari also hailed the cleric over sending message to the 35th Islamic Unity Conference and denounced the enemies for fueling sectarian and ethnic conflicts during recent years in an effort to violate the solidarity in the world of Islam.
 
Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought referred to emergence of Daesh terrorist group in the Islamic countries and lauded Iran's anti-terror commander over struggles to beat the Takfiri (excommunication) group and also expansion of Islamic unity in the international arena.
