At the beginning of the signing ceremony of cooperation documents between the two countries, Raisi and Tokayev also signed a joint statement.
 
Following the signing of the documents and memoranda, the Presidents of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Kazakhstan, Ebrahim Raisi and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, are scheduled to attend a joint press conference.
 
Prior to the signing ceremony, Raisi and Tokayev, they held a bilateral meeting to discuss regional issues and topics of interest.
 
The official welcoming ceremony of the President of the Republic of Iran to his Kazakh counterpart was held on Sunday with the playing of the national anthem of the two countries in the cultural-historical complex of Saadabad.
 
The President of Kazakhstan arrived in Tehran today after attending the 25th International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg, Russia, at the official invitation, heading a high-ranking political and economic delegation.
 
A delegation of about 40 Kazakh businessmen are accompanying the Kazakh president on the trip.
 
Tokayev is the second president of Kazakhstan, after 30 years of Nursultan Nazarbayev's rule.
 
The Presidents of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Kazakhstan met last year in 2021 on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Tajikistan, during which they agreed to increase bilateral cooperation, including rail cooperation.
 
Before Tokayev arrived in Tehran, the first train of the new KITI railway corridor (Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Türkiye) arrived at the Tehran railway station, carrying 24 short-haul wagons carrying 48 20-foot containers of sulfur to Türkiye and then Europe.
 
During his one-year presidency, attention to strengthening Iran's relations with its neighbors and trans-regional friendly countries gained momentum, and during this period, visits took place between high-ranking Iranian officials and countries such as Russia, Qatar, Oman, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Venezuela.
