Leader: Western plan for NATO expansion; main problem in case of Ukraine
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, this evening (Sunday) received the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and the accompanying delegation, noting the deep historical and cultural ties between Iran and Kazakhstan, and stressed the need to further expand cooperation between the two countries in various fields especially regional cooperation

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution also considered it important to expand cultural cooperation between Iran and Kazakhstan and added: “Farabi, as an Islamic philosopher and scholar of Kazakh origin, whose works have been researched and studied in Iran for thousands of years, can be the basis for cultural cooperation and the formation of a joint scientific committee between the two countries.”
Ayatollah Khamenei also regarding the issues related to Ukraine, stated: "The main problem in the case of Ukraine is that the Westerners are trying to expand NATO and they will not hesitate expanding their influence wherever they can."
"We need to look at things carefully and be vigilant, because Americans and Westerners are always trying to expand their sphere of influence in different regions, including East and West Asia, and to undermine the independence and sovereignty of nations," the Supreme Leader underlined.
During the meeting, which was also attended by the President of Iran, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan, said: "We had very good talks with Mr. Raisi and the documents signed by both parties can pave the way for further expansion of relations between the two countries."
The President of Kazakhstan called the historical and cultural commonalities between Iran and Kazakhstan deep and welcomed the Leader's proposal to form a scientific committee on Farabi, expressing his views on regional issues and the situation in Ukraine and explaining the situation in his country after the failed coup attempt last year.
