Iran’s Foreign Ministry has issued a statement on the 44th anniversary of Tabas fiasco and strongly denounced the new US sanctions and maximum pressure on Tehran.

On the occasion of the 44th anniversary of the US fiasco in Tabas, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a statement.
The full text of the statement is as follows,
Forty-four years have passed since the defeat of the United States in the illegal aggression by its commandos against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Islamic Republic of Iran in their invasion of Tabas on April 25, 1980.
Despite this, we still witness the stubborn behavior of the US as it continues its miscalculations in interactions with the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the great people of Iran.
The imposition of ruthless sanctions and the maximum pressure of the US in various aspects, including political, economic and propaganda, aimed at assaulting the stability and security of Iran and disrupting the process of its development, progress and growth, still continues.
Meanwhile, the Muslim world, especially the West Asian region, is also exposed to the continuation of Washington’s interventionist approach that stems from the country's unconditional support for the barbaric crimes of the Zionist regime.
American statesmen interfere in the internal affairs of independent countries by claiming to bring freedom and democracy to those countries and by chanting the false slogan of defending human rights.
By accepting the eternal shame of supporting the genocide and war crimes of the Zionist regime against innocent Palestinian children and women and the oppressed people of Palestine during the past two hundred days, the US officials insist on sacrificing all the national interests, dignity and prestige of the US citizens for this child-killing regime.
Now things have reached a point where in the US, the self-proclaimed leader of freedom and democracy in the world, protests by university professors and students and the awakened consciences of the American people in support of the Palestinians and the condemnation of the racist Israeli regime are severely suppressed, and those who protest the wrong policy of the US are deprived of their right to freedom of expression and freedom of assembly and they are banned from continuing their studies.
The US’s disgrace with regard to the Palestinian issue today is no less than the defeat of the Delta Force in Tabas. Two hundred days after the killing of civilians and innocent Palestinian people, the publication of pictures of discovered mass graves in hospitals in the Gaza Strip has made the public opinion of the world increasingly disgusted with the Israeli regime and its main supporter, the US government.
This comes as Washington,
for the fourth time, has vetoed the proposed resolutions in the UN Security Council, which called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, and has prevented the end of war crimes, genocide and ethnic cleansing in the Gaza Strip.
When the US military suffered a historic fiasco in its attack in Tabas, it was the power of divine assistance that grounded the American invaders.
On the anniversary of this historic event, the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran have given a strong and deterrent response in line with the accepted principles of international law, especially the right to legitimate self-defense, with their steadfastness in the Operation True Promise.
This action was a decisive warning to the well-known supporters of the aggressor Zionist regime, so that they would know Iran's decisiveness in taking countermeasures.
The anniversary of the US fiasco in Tabas provides an opportunity for us to appreciate the valor and courage of the faithful and powerful armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the nation’s security forces and intelligence that, during the ups and downs, thwarted various plots hatched by the enemies and cut off the hands of the aggressors, and guaranteed the sovereignty and security of the country.
