Mahmoud Abbas stresses Palestinian’s determination to stay in ancestral land
President Abbas, in an address at the opening session of the World Economic Forum held in the Saudi capital Riyadh, warned against an imminent Israeli attack on the city of Rafah saying that would constitute a new catastrophe for the Palestinian people, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

Abbas expressed concerns that the Israeli occupation might resort to expelling Palestinians from the West Bank after the conclusion of its ongoing aggression on Gaza, affirming that the Palestinian people and leadership will never allow this move to pass.

The President reiterated his demand for an immediate halt to the Israeli onslaughts against Gaza and the immediate entry of humanitarian supplies to citizens throughout the territory.

President Abbas called for pressure on Israel, particularly by the United States, to stop its imminent invasion of Rafah calling the US as the only country capable of preventing an Israeli invasion against Rafah.

He described as "extremely unfortunate" the situation in Gaza where Israeli regime exploited a so-called retaliation for the October 7 attack by Hamas to take revenge on the Palestinian people.

He stated that Israel had killed more than 34,000 civilians, mostly children, women, and the elderly, and injured 75,000, in addition to destroying 75% of buildings, institutions, roads, mosques, and universities in the Gaza Strip.
