Dr Hamid Shahriari, in an address to the Supreme Council of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, said although the grounds for division exists, Iran and Iraq have foiled all plots for division, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

The meeting of the supreme council was held on the sideline of the 2nd International Islamic Unity Conference held in the Iraqi capital on Wednesday.

He said,” We are in a phase that the atheists are standing against the entire world of Islam” and added,” Those who are hesitant between Islam and non-belief should decide on their stance because they can no longer mention the name of Palestine without taking practical measures to defend the Palestinians.”

The cleric hailed the Iraqi government and nation for their pro-Palestine stance and their support for the resistance axis.

He referred to the popular pro-Palestine rallies across the globe and said,” Even in countries with firm economic relations with Israeli regime, the people are pushing their governments to sever ties with Israel amid its genocidal war against Gaza.”

The Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought made the remarks at the meeting with a group of Shia and Sunni scholars in Baghdad following the 2nd International Islamic Unity Conference.
