Qur’an, a book confirming previous divine books

“He has sent down to you the Book with the truth, confirming what preceded it; and He has sent down the Torah and the Gospel (of Prophet Jesus which has been lost).” (Verse 3 of Surah Al Imran)
Qur’an, a book confirming previous divine books
What does this confirmation mean given that the Quran has been revealed as a divine book after them?

“He has sent down to you the Book with the truth, confirming what preceded it; and He has sent down the Torah and the Gospel (of Prophet Jesus which has been lost).” (Verse 3 of Surah Al Imran)

This is among the verses of the Quran that prove there is only one religion before God.

Religion is one and that is submission to God. “The only religion with Allah is Islam (submission).” (Verse 19 of Surah Al Imran)

We also read in Verse 85 of this Surah (Al Imran): “He who chooses a religion other than Islam, it will not be accepted from him, and in the Everlasting Life he will be among the losers.”

What has come in the form of Islam, Christianity, Judaism, etc, are different religious traditions all of which necessitate submission to God. The true essence of these religious traditions is one and the same and without any contradiction or inconsistency. According to the Quran, the differences that are seen in divine books that have reached us is because of the changes made in them by some. (Verse 78 of Surah Al Imran, and other verses)

Another point is that the differences in religious traditions is due to more perfection in some. Imagine you give three books to a young man and tell him the first will help his knowledge grow by 20%, the second will help his knowledge grow 45% and the third will help his knowledge grow by 90 percent.

The three books are not contradictory but each has a different capacity to help someone grow.

God, in Verse 3 of Surah Al Imran, says the Quran has been sent down with Haq (the truth). Haq originally means harmony and compatibility.

Sending down the Quran with Haq means it is an undeniable fact and that there is no falsehood in it.
