An Iranian Quranic official said the purpose of holding Quran competitions is not just honoring Quran activists but the main goal is promoting the culture of human dignity.

Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Reza Heshmati, culture ministry’s Quran and Etrat Deputy, made the remark Friday night at the closing ceremony of the 8th edition of Imam Ali (AS) Dar-ol-Quran Center’s Quran competition.

He further said Quran activists and memorizers of the Holy Book must be exemplary in acting upon the teachings of the Quran.

“Today, the society is in need of Quran instructors and activists whose words and deeds are in accordance to Quranic teachings,” Hojat-ol-Islam Heshmati went on to say.

Imam Ali (AS) Dar-ol-Quran Center’s Quran competition was held in Tehran in the categories of memorization, Tarteel recitation and Tahghigh recitation of the Quran.
