Iranian jurisprudents hail Plasco tragedy firefighters

Top jurisprudents in Iran have issued messages hailing the sacrifice made by firefighters during the collapse of Plasco high rise in the Iranian capital of Tehran.

Senior Iranian religious figures have issued condolences over the passing of a group of firefighters in the Plasco building collapse hailing the brevity of rescue workers sacrificing their lives during the incident, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
Grand Ayatollah Jafar Sobhani, Shia jurisprudent in his message extended his regrets over the passing of an estimated number of 25 firefighters who have lost their lives in the accident calling for financial compensation of the producers who lost all their possessions in the incident.
 
Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi, referred to the high status of those who sacrifice their lives for other people in view of Qur’an and said,” There are days in the history of nations when threats are not solved without devoted people who contribute their lives” praising the characteristic as the highest humane trait and a symbol of true belief in a person.
 
The cleric also urged for expansion of the culture of sacrifice in the Islamic community.
 
Ayatollah Hussein Mazaheri, Ayatollah Lotfollah Safi Golpaygani and Ayatollah Mohammad Alavi Gorgani expressed sorrow over the burning of old Plasco high rise in Tehran which led to the passing of firefighters and some citizens calling for measures for more safety in all older buildings in order to prevent similar incidents.
 
Ayatollah Mousa Shobeiri Zanjani, Ayatollah Yousef Saanei and grand Ayatollah Hussein Noori Hamedani also issued separate messages extending condolence for the Iranian nation and families of the bereaved firefighters missing their loved ones in the incident calling the victims as martyrs based on Islamic and Qur’anic quotes.
 
As the awe and sorrow of the incident has taken the country, national vigils have been held following the congregational prayers on Sunday, in mosques across the country to pay tribute for those who have lost their lives and their grieving families.
 
Early on Thursday, a fire emergency was reported from the ninth floor of the 17-story Plasco high rise. Firefighters were on the last stage of evacuating the building when it collapsed with an estimated number of 30 people, mostly firefighters, in it.
 
Bodies of four citizens have been found while two firefighters surrendered to death due to serious injuries.
 
 Firefighters, rescue workers and related forces have been clearing and searching the debris to find the bodies of remaining victims.
 
This is while officials, ordinary people and firefighters from different countries have sent messages sympathizing with the bereaved families of victims.
