During a meeting with an Indonesian delegation visiting Qom, Ayatollah Safi-Golpaygani referred to the seditious schemes plotted by the criminal ISIL terrorist group, saying that this oppressive group has targeted the unity of Muslims and even the fundamentals of Islam.

During a meeting with a delegation of Indonesian ministers, including finance minister Dr Sufyan Jalil, Grand Ayatollah Lotfollah Safi-Golpaygani stated that Muslims and Muslim countries must come together and strengthen their relations.
His Eminence also called for the strengthening of relations between Iran and Indonesia, and said we should appreciate the opportunity given by this meeting to strengthen relations between the two Muslim countries, especially in economic and cultural aspects, so that the relationship between the two countries can become stronger than ever before.
In another part of his statement, the revered source of emulation referred to the seditious schemes plotted by the criminal ISIL terrorist group, saying that this oppressive group has targeted the unity of Muslims and even the fundamentals of Islam.
He stated that the only way to defend Islam against the evil actions committed by ISIL terrorists is to promote Muslim unity, adding that Muslims must obey the Quranic message which states “Surely the believers are none but brothers unto one another” [49:10] and unite in order to fight their enemies.
During the meeting, which was held in a cordial atmosphere, Ayatollah Safi-Golpaygani gifted a copy of the Holy Quran written with Iranian-style calligraphy and published in Iran to Dr Jalil and pointed to similarities between all Muslims, saying that he gave this Quran to the minister so he can realize and announce to the Indonesian people that all Muslims have the same Quran and there is no difference between the Quran of Sunni and Shi’a Muslims. “Islam, the qiblah (direction of prayer) and prayer are common between all Muslims and the different sects of Islam have no major differences,” he emphasized.
At the end of the meeting, the revered source of emulation thanked the Indonesian delegation and said: “I was very pleased to meet you and I hope that our meeting contained many blessings that will result in goodwill and enhance the relations between the two countries.”
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr Jalil presented a report on Indonesia’s cultural and economic mission.
